I'm excited about all of the features beyond just creating a text note from a free-flowing conversation. Creating orders which has just been released is a great step forward. Harvesting discrete data to populate registries and populating NoteWriter Forms and ProcDoc forms to drive quality metrics and CPT coding are other good examples. As we add more discrete data mining and features we will realize a whole new level of opportunities for research. Generating text was step one but discrete data opportunities is the real future that is being built.
Mark these words and follow up in 5 years. I was right on target about Meaningful Use from 15 years ago! Let's see if I am as accurate with AI in 5 years plus!
Generative AI will flourish wildly and lead to an enormous amount of automation across healthcare, notes, handoffs, care summaries, reports etc.
AI in medical imaging of all sorts will be the norm for 95%+ of the draft reports
Genomics, drug development, and predictive analysis
Growth in clinical decision support, tailored care plans, and possibly automation of interventions (this last one is dicey!), but mainly more personalization of care based on data for ambulatory and inpatient care
Advancements in predictive prevention from an early age on risk and how to intervene on diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, cancer, lifestyle etc.
